Adventure Triathlon

Jeff and a group of friends participated in a two-man team adventure triathlon this weekend. He and his partner competed against 35 teams and had to run 2.5 miles, kayak 1.5 miles, and mountain bike 20 miles while staying within 100 yards of each other. They had a great time and came back exhausted, extremely muddy (it rained all week), and with a 1st place "trophy" (a golden crank)! I was really surprised and impressed, as was Jeff! They won a cool backpack for being the champions and bragging rights...

Jamba Juice

The month of January, 24 Hour Fitness Club members can show their card at Jamba Juice with a coupon (which was sent to Jeff's email) and receive a free Jamba Juice! We basically print off a coupon for each of us every day (and whoever else happens to be visiting: Mom, Dad, Brooke--they never ask to see the card). It has been great and we will be sad when this special ends. I don't know who will be more disappointed, me or Sienna. She loves Jamba Juice! Jamba Juice is all over the city, but I like to go when we're not in the city because then Sienna gets her own little cup and we don't have to share. I don't mind sharing, but Sienna doesn't really understand this concept and has a difficult time handing over the cup...
San Francisco has this unique law which prohibits restaurants and food service providers from using styrofoam. Yep, even the styrofoam cups Jamba Juice comes in. So, no more Jamba Juice in baby cups unless we are outside of the city. Bummer, because it is more convenient to get Jamba Juice in the city. San Francisco isn't as kid-friendly as they'd like to think. I know they are just trying to prevent us from getting cancer (that's what happens if you warm up your leftover food in styrofoam), but Jamba Juice should be okay, right? Oh well, there aren't that many days left anyway. But, it was great while it lasted. Nothing tastes as good as when it is free!

Northern California Storm

Sienna and I woke up yesterday in the midst of a big storm. We had torrential rain and hurricane-like winds. The power was out and after hanging around the house for a little while, we decided to warm up in the car. We drove down to the Tanforan mall where there is an indoor playground. As we were leaving the neighborhood, we found this and had to redirect:
The tree was completely uprooted:
And it crushed the back end of this car:
We saw lots of trees and branches scattered all over the road and sidewalks as we drove. Sienna seemed to enjoy the mall. Most of the mall was closed and without power, but the play area was still open:

After ten hours without power, the electricity finally came back on! It has been kind of exciting around here because we are not used to this kind of weather, but I'm glad the worst of it is over.
