Last weekend we participated in the Los Angeles Ragnar Relay. What an adventure! It's a 12-man, 24-hour relay from Santa Barbara to Dana Point (about 190 miles). I had such a fun time and can't wait to do it again. Our team was Solid Gold and my nickname was White Gold for several reasons.

Team Captain Jeff was Golden Calf. Need I say more?

Our number one Solid Gold groupie:

I was really nervous about the race because of the kids, especially Dylan. But, they did so well and were in great hands with Grandma and Aunt Jamie, who actually followed us for most of the first day so I could nurse Dylan.

Some Solid Goldies around sunset (one of the decorated vans is on the left--we had fun honking and cheering on the runners):

Here are some Solid Goldies getting ready for their night run.

The course was all along the coast and beautiful. We each ran 3 legs. My first one was 4.8 miles through Ventura at 3pm. My second leg was 4.2 miles right by LAX at 1am. I was lucky to be able to run with Brooke and Heddy, so it wasn't too scary. My final run was at 8am along Huntington Beach and was 6.5 miles. I was so nervous for this last leg because it was long and I hadn't slept at all. Here's my final hand-off to Goldritis.

Jeff was the anchor on the team, which I think would be a difficult position. He ran his first leg at 7pm, which meant he had to wait all day long before running. Here is Golden Ticket (Dave) cheering on Jeff.

Jeff's next leg was at 4am and he got lost in a residential area and neither van could find him to cheer him on. His final leg was around 2pm after no sleep, but he did get to bring us across the finish line. I was so impressed with all of the runners on our team. It was a fun group and everyone did really well. It felt great to cross the finish line with our whole team! Can't wait to do it again!
